one thing i hate….politics. well, no, thats not entirely true. i hate what politics can do to people, to friendships and families. i myself am kind of the black sheep of my family, and one of the ways that i am different from them is in my political veiws. i don’t really have a party affiliation, i consider myself to be an idealist. i dont support war, but i do support the men and women who are willing to fight to the death for a cause they believe in. i dont believe in abortion, but i do believe a woman should have the right to choose what happens to her own body. things like that.
i hate what political debates can do to people. sometimes they get so focused on the idea that THEIR veiw is the ONLY correct veiw, they begin to turn on people who are their friends. if ive learned anything from politics, its that the only constant thing about them is that no one is ever going to admit that their veiws are wrong, and they shouldnt. because your political veiws are an opinion, and its YOUR opinion, and if theres one thing that i have learned in my government classes its that we have the right to our own opinions, if nothing else.
my grandmother used to tell me that if i ever wanted to have a good relationship with anyone i care about there are three things that shouldnt be discussed: 1)religion, 2) income, and 3) politics. ive seen friendships that have been solid for a decade, blown apart by one heated political debate.
im not saying you shouldnt share your veiws. im saying that you shouldnt disregard others veiws and say they dont have a right to their own opinion. respect others opinions, especially when theyre not your own. because you know that you would want yours respected as well.
just had to get that out of my system…….do with it what you may……youre free to express yourself here
peace and blessings,
ashley
